The Society of Auricular Acupuncturists was formed in 1975 and its membership is limited. The Society's aims are to encourage the advancement of auricular acupuncture and complementary medicine in general. It encourages its practitioners to have a high standard of ethics, competence and conduct. The Society is a member of the British Complementary Medicine Association and adheres to their Code of Conduct.

1.A practitioner must always maintain the highest standards of professional conduct towards the patient and Society.
2.A practitioner must not allow his or herself to be influenced by profit only.
3.A practitioner's advertising must follow the guidelines laid down by the Society.
4.A practitioner must always bear in mind the importance of preserving all life.
5.A practitioner must carry out treatment on patients to the best of their ability.
6.A practitioner owes his or her patient complete discretion on all events which have been confided to them.
7.A patient has the right to expect a complete examination of his or her disorder and accurate records are kept.
8.A practitioner should aim to continuously aim to improve his or her knowledge and skill.
9.A practitioner must not entice patients from his or her colleagues.

A practitioner must strictly observe the above rules and abide by them.
